The Declaration of Reversion is a statement of intent which was composed, written and sent, for the benefit of all modern Franks of Thia Frankisk Aldsido, to the Summus Pontifex (the Pope) on the 25th of December 2016.
Background
The idea to produce some official declaration came from a need to draw a discernible line of decent from the elder Franks to our modern iteration. It was also devised to provide a means by which modern heathens, who take up the Frankish mantle, to disassociate themselves with whatever influence the Christian religion(s) had on them prior to becoming a Frank. Like most nations of this world, a founding document that provides a road forward and inspires future generations is a hallmark of folk genesis.
The Merovingians of old were great proponents of a strong civil administration. Having been the inheritors of the Roman foundation before them, they quickly adapted their social mores to one which valued prestigious diplomas, charters, formularies, etc. It was only natural that for our modern allodium to take hold, TFA follow in like, producing a document that at once pays homage to ancient form as well as being firmly of our own age.
It was sent to the Summus Pontifex, that is the “Supreme Pontiff”, for a number of reasons. TFA could have went its own way without informing the Church which had instigated the Conversion of our elders. That said, it would seem better when a severance is undertaken, to do it with proper form and to do so clearly and in a manner of utmost formality.
Importance
The Declaration of Reversion in its language is written for our Frankish audience. Although the Vatican will receive it and, perhaps, even read it, it is not meant for them. Rather it lays out some principles for our tradition which careful observation will delineate for those interested in our ways. The well-read will easily pick out various quotes and homages here and there in the words therein and be able to gain a fuller understanding of the foundation of TFA.
The date which was chosen for the publication and mailing thereof was not chosen by accident. Rather, 25th December 2016 was awaited for some time. It was felt that for this document to be fully realized and most auspicious, it need to be of the highest significance. From ancient sources, such as Avitus and Cassiodorus, we can establish the conversion of Clovis to 508 (as opposed to 496 as per Gregory of Tours) and specifically on Christmas Day. In producing the Declaration of Reversion on Christmas Day 2016, we get 2016-508= 1508 years to the day.
Conclusion
To “Revert” is to return to a former condition or practice. That is the ultimate goal of our Declaration, to demonstrate without equivocation, that we are returning to an original state of being. Frankishness and our religious pursuit of Thia Frankisk Aldsido is to us that original state. It may not be exactly how things were, but it is a state which humbly derives from and benefits the originality of the primal Franks. Just as Francia inherited the Eagle of Rome, we in our turn inherit the standard of a once Heathen Frankish people.
